Didn't We Almost Have It All

" . . . The ride with you was worth the fall my friend . . . "

From the song Didn't We Almost Have It All by the late Whitney Houston

As I spent a large part of my Saturday getting things ready for the weekly Boomerocity posts, the news came across the internet that Whitney Houston had died.  Some of the information I was getting denied it but then the sad news was confirmed.  The great, beautiful and heavenly voice that seemed to move any mountain but her own would never sing again.

As of this writing, we do not yet know the cause of her far-too-soon passing.  While many will pass judgment as to what that might be, time will tell.  But does it really matter now?  Will learning the cause bring her back?  Of course not.

All I know that, while we fans will mourn her loss because, with the exception of a movie and possibly some unreleased music in the vaults, we’ll never hear her create any more new music, the real loss is going to be felt by her family and close, real friends.  Special thoughts and prayers go out to her lovely daughter, Bobbi Kristina.  The pain from losing her mom and the permanent void left with her passing will be something that will never leave this girl.  She will face challenges as she deals with her mom’s legacy and the various and sundry vultures that, no doubt, will circle about trying to take advantage of her and the situation.  Kinda like many did with her mom.

Far after we’ve forgotten and have to be reminded that Whitney Houston has left this world, Bobbi Kristina will daily miss her mom and the things that might have been.  No doubt, there will be all sorts of tabloid garbage that will have to either be ignored or litigated, adding to her pain.

I challenge Boomerocity readers to pray for Bobbi Kristina that she won’t be another celebrity’s kid who hits the skids; that she’ll be able to rise above the din of battle and slime that will no doubt come; that she’ll learn from the successes and failures of her parents; that she’ll be successful of preserving the positive things that her mom accomplished because there was many.

Rest in peace, Whitney. May God’s love and comfort fill your heart, Kristina, and may you hold on to His guiding hand – the hand that your mom grew up holding on to.
