October Road

“ . . . keep me walking, October road . . ."

From October Road by Jame Taylor

Week of October 3, 2011

This week I will turn the ripe old age of 52.  I suppose, in most ways, I really don’t mind aging.  While I’ve made lots of mistakes as well as experienced great high points in my life, I really wouldn’t trade my life for a new one.

At this stage in my life, I’m blessed to be on the sunny side of the earth’s crust and have pretty darn good health.  I’m glad that I was born when I was and I am where I am and I like where I think I’m going.     I’m blessed by my God who loves me and all mankind. I’m blessed to still be married to the wife of my youth and that our daughter is healthy and doing well in life.

Yeah, while I am another year older and my body has taken it upon itself to remind that I’m not the young punk I used to be, I consider myself incredibly blessed . . . and more than I deserve. If this continues, then I pray that my “October Road” keeps me walking for many, many more years.
