Boomerocity was launched in April 2009. At that time, it wasn’t intended to be an interview and review publication. Other types of writing were going to be featured with (possibly) the occasional interview with a few people that I had connections with.
The second interviewee for the fledgling publication was Rick Derringer. That interview led to my first interview with his good friend, Edgar Winter (here). Almost a year later, I had my first of two interviews with Edgar’s big brother, Johnny (here and here).
Sadly, Johnny passed away eight years ago. I don’t want to take away the thunder of the second Boomerocity with Edgar, below. However, I will say that we are all thrilled to finally have a tribute album to listen to by Edgar dedicated to the memory of Johnny.
The album is Brother Johnny and it’s well worth your investment. Helping Edgar are such greats as Ringo Starr, Billy F. Gibbons, Michael McDonald, Steve Lukather, Keb’ Mo, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Walsh, Derek Trucks, David Grissom, and John McFee.
Buy it.
We talk about Brother Johnny (both the album and his brother), Ringo Starr, Woodstock and . . . well, watch the interview. Share it with your friends. Keep up with the latest with Edgar at his website, EdgarWinter.com, as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
