Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa

Label: Mascot Label Group

Release Date: January 26, 2018

Boomerocity readers already know that we’re huge fans of both Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa. In fact, we learned about Beth about eight years ago thanks to his collaboration with Beth on their “Don’t Explain” project. We’ve been die-hard fans of Beth’s ever since.

That said, it shouldn’t come as any surprise whatsoever that we say write up front that this is one of the must-have CD’s of 2018.

Bar none.

Their last work together was their “Live In Amsterdam” so this package is long overdue. Full of blues and soul standards, this is their treatment of them and, boy! How do they ever treat them!

The disc has ten of the aforementioned standards and we’ll highlight a couple of them for you.

The opening strains of “Give It Everything You Got” sounds as if Joe’s guitar is saying, “Wow!” . . . as it should because that’s what we did when we first cranked up the disc.

With the title cut, it sounds as if they’re about to launch into Natbush City Limits, which they have covered on previous projects, so it won’t surprise us if they slide in and out of the two songs in concert. Great stuff!

“Sitting On Top of the World” is some great, straightforward performance of the blues. Beth’s voice and Joe’s guitar work hits the listener in their very core.

The down and dirty vibe of “Joy” is pretty much worth the whole price of the disc.

Yeah, it’s that great.

So, yeah, buy this disc – especially if you’ve never heard Joe or Beth before. It will make you instant fans of both of them.

Yeah, they’re that great.
