That’s way too long.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
The night’s entertainment started with The Amy Ray Band. Amy, of course, is of the Indigo Girls fame. Quite country/Americana, she and her band started precisely on time and quickly endeared themselves to the predominantly baby boomer crowd. Playing a good blend from her ten albums (including last year’s “If It All Goes South”), she and the band kept the appreciative crowd engaged and entertained.
After a brief intermission, the twelve-piece Tedeschi Trucks Band came out to a standing ovation which remained standing off and on through out the night. From the opening tune, “Hear My Dear,” to “Made Up Mind” for the encore, the East Tennessee crowd was eating out of the band’s hands.
Eleven of the sixteen songs the band performed were from their latest album – the four disc “I Am The Moon”. While every song was phenomenal, Boomerocity’s favorite (and, apparently, the rest of the crowd, as well) was “Midnight In Harlem”. Personally, just hearing them perform that one song is well worth the price of admission. All the rest of the songs are icing on the musical cake.
One thing you can always count on with the Tedeschi Trucks Band: You’ll always get the most bang for your entertainment dollar, hands-down. Check out TedeschiTrucksBand.com to see when and where they will be playing closest to you.
