Black Jacket Symphony
Performance of Queen’s
A Night at the Opera
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium
August 19, 2023

Black Jacket Symphony Aug 2023I first covered a performance by Black Jacket Symphony in October of 2014 in the Bijou Theater. They performed the Led Zeppelin IV album. In the middle of that review (here) I said, “Wow!”

Today, I’m saying an even bigger WOW after their Saturday night performance of Queen’s “A Night at the Opera” featuring Marc Martel. Attempting such a feat is not for the non-talented or the faint of heart. If those types attempted to perform that musically monumental monster of an album, the odds at 100% against any sort of sympathy shown towards the attempt.

Not so with Black Jacket Symphony. The knocked it right out of the friggin’ park and into the parking lot.

No. Seriously.

This was done via masterful musicianship and sealed with the exceptional vocal skills of Marc Martel.

You say that the name doesn’t ring a bell or mean anything to you? Well, did you see the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody? Marc performed the Freddie Mercury vocals in that movie.

No. Seriously.

He nailed it. Nailed. It. Solidly.

You can find out more about Marc and his current work and career here. Now back to BJS.

Black Jacket Orchestra continues to excel in performing classic rock performances that originated by the biggest names in the genre. Rest assured that if they can knock out Queen, they will perform anything they set their minds to and will do so with absolute excellence. They will not disappoint.

At all.
