I don't know what it was like when you were a teenager. I was a teenager back in the 70s, mid the late 70s. I remember especially after I got my driver's license, driving around on the streets and roads of Phoenix, Arizona, having the radio on, and hearing great songs.
My mind would just wonder, as teenage minds often do. I have fond memories of hearing the songs by The Chi-Lites; especially, Oh Girl, and Have You Seen Her. And if I was fortunate enough to go to a high school dance or two, and the DJ would play those songs (and since I'm not a good dancer), a song like those would come on and be a nice slow dance, and I'd find whoever I had to crush on and ask them to dance.
Ah, the memories! The Chi-Lites have such an incredible presence on the soundtrack of our youth! Recently, they were honored with a star on the Walk of Fame. The remaining co-founder of the group, Marshall Thompson, was gracious enough to chat with me about the star and the career it honors.
It was such a privilege and an honor to talk to Mr. Thompson. To say that it touched my heart deeply would be an understatement. This interview isn’t a very long one – about 15 minutes or so. But it is a fun and informative one that you will want to share with your friends.
Enjoy and share.
