If you're a baby boomer, then you already know just certain sounds when they come across the radio, you know immediately who they are. Those songs take you back, maybe even as far as almost 60 years. That would certainly be the case with the band, The Byrds. The band consisted of Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark, Michael Clarke, and Chris Hillman.
Chris Hillman tells his story in his book, Time Between. In it, he talks about his days with The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers (with Graham Parsons), Manassas (with Stephen Stills and Joe Lala and others), the Souther, Hillman, Furay Band, and The Desert Rose band.
All of these band names are just like bringing back all sorts of instant memories and music associated with them. It's no wonder that all of this great body of work attributed to Chris's becoming an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Speaking of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I invited another inductee and former bandmate of Chris’ to speak about Chris and how they met. Of course, I’m talking about Richie Furay. It was incredibly kind and gracious of Richie to contribute to the introduction of this interview via video.
Chris’s phenomenal book is a must-have addition to anyone’s personal library who is keenly interested in the music of our generation. I read it I couldn't hardly put it down until I was done reading it. It’s a great book – and fun book - to read. If you haven't already bought it and read it, I encourage you to do so. You can click on the little image of the book cover on this page and order it right away. An audio book is now out and it’s now out in paperback, too.
Please give this interview, below, your attention. Afterwards, please share it with your friends. After you’ve done that, click on the photo of the book and it will take you to Chris’s website so that you can order your own copy (or multiple copies as gifts) of Time Between.
You can keep up with the latest on Chris by visiting his website, ChrisHillman.com, as well as Facebook and Instagram.
