Once in a while I get a CD in the mail of an artist I’m not familiar with and I don’t listen to it right away. Then, when I do get around to finally listening to it, I kick myself in my ample butt for not listening to it immediately upon receipt.

“Love The Way You Roll” – the latest disc by The Alexis P. Suter Band – is one such CD. Wowie, wow, wow! This woman and her band deliver up a smokin’ hot serving of soulful blues that will grab you and not let go of you until she’s dang well good and ready.

Yeah, she’s that good!

Alexis and the band grabs you by throat from the git go with the opening tune, “Nuthin’ in the World”. She kicks some major butt with Jimmy Bennett’s amazing guitar work – and they stay the course with fast, slow, happy or sad tunes throughout the twelve song foray. Obviously, this tune is on one of the hard-to-choose-from-them-all favorites for Boomerocity.

With the exception of Big Mama Thornton’s “You Don’t Move Me No More” and “Shake Your Hips” by Slim Harpo, all of the cuts on this album were penned by the band. So, sitting those two aside, I’ll randomly pick two more favorites to highlight.
“Gonna Love You” is some of the most amazing new blues you’re going to hear short of going to the crossroads your own bad self. It’s gritty. It’s down. It’ll make you sway. Yeah, it’s that good!

“Anything” very well could be the new “I’d Rather Go Blind” – and I don’t say that lightly. It’s freakin’ amazing!  I slapped the repeat button on my player so much that it started to slap back. Alexis’s vocals will send shivers up and down your spine and Bennett’s guitar licks will loop infinitely in your mind.

If you love soul, if you love blues, if you love it all rolled into one and you want to hear something besides covers, then “Love The Way You Roll” is THE must-have CD for your collection.
