Jonathan Cain is no stranger to Boomerocity, having sat for interviews three times (here, here, and here). Obviously, his music isn’t unknown to Boomerocity . . . and we’re not just talking about his work with The Babys, Journey, or Bad English. We’re also not unfamiliar with his early solo work. We are also quite aware – and quite supportive – of Jonathan’s work in contemporary Christian music. In fact, you can say that we’re fans of that work.

Suffice it to say, we were quite glad when word came out that he was releasing his latest solo album of CCM music titled, “Arise” his sixth faith-inspired LP since 2016.

For those of you who are expecting a “churchy” version of Journey, don’t.

As with Jonathan’s other CCM work, this is music artfully crafted to inspire, encourage, and to put one into a prayer, praiseful frame of mind and spirit. Additionally, this is music that one might easily hear in worship services around the U.S. – especially at City Of Destiny Church in Apopka, Florida, where his wife, Paula White, is pastor and Jonathan often leads the church’s praise and worship services.

No, you won’t get Journey lite nor will you get rock and roll with faith-based lyrics. What you will get is another view of Cain’s artistic side. Even if you aren’t a Believer, if you enjoy music that facilitates a calm atmosphere for thought or meditation, “Arise” will help you get into such a zone. If you aren’t a Believer, don’t rule out this album. Don’t worry, Paula and Jonathan won’t send a spiritual hit squad to your home to try to jam their beliefs down your throat. But the music will help you achieve a special kind of chill and calmness if you let it.
