Shape Shifter is Carlos Santana’s first studio album since his 2010 release, Guitar Heaven, and it’s been well worth the wait! I don’t know what else to say but that I love every note of every song on this album. I really, sincerely do.
Listening to this CD and it is one of those albums that is just pure, blissful joy to listen to. It’s soothing. It’s romantic. It’s exhilarating. I know I’m repeating myself but it is blissful joy to listen to.
If a gun was held to my head and was told to pick three favorites off of this album, I’d be tempted to say just shoot me. Then, I’d get my proper senses about me, close my eyes and let my finger randomly pick three tunes – which is exactly what I’ve done.
Angelica Faith has blown me away each of the infinite number of times I’ve listened to this incredibly beautiful tune. You can sleep to it. You can relax to it. You can work to it and read to it. It’s beautiful. It then smoothly and effortlessly near-segues into Never the Same Again, complementing the same vibe and, then again, right into In the Light of Day. Absolutely amazing.
Some may disagree with this statement but I will be so bold as to say that Shape Shifter is one of Carlos Santana’s best three albums. Purchase it and see if I’m telling the truth.
