Y’all know Boomerocity loves the blues and love turning you on to new blues hitting the streets. Well, folks, we have another great one for you.
One of the most amazing female blues artists on the planet today is Samantha Fish. And while Rolling Stone typically sucks at supporting great blues artists in their declining publication, they have actually admitted Samantha’s existence and called her “a genuine force of sonic prowess.” Boomerocity invites RS to break away from covering the disposable music that they mostly cover and start paying attention to more of the movers and shakers like in the blues genre Samantha Fish. They’re missing out on a lot, and they may actually gain more readers.
But I digress.
Samantha Fish has a new single from her soon-to-be-released (April 25th) album, “Paper Doll”. The single is “I’m Done Runnin’” and let me tell you, it SMOKES and is the lead-off track from the album.
The song is an anthem of rock-solid assurance and independence. Samantha says of the tune, “It’s about pushing forward even when life knocks you down, because you know what you want.”
If you’ve not yet ever heard any of Samantha Fish’s work, then Boomerocity invites you to dig into it. We’ve seen her in concert, too, and the woman is as amazing on stage as she is on recordings. Check out her music and catch her shows. They’re both worth your investment of time and money if you’re an avid blues fan.
About The Album (from the official press release)
Paper Doll was recorded in the midst of a grueling touring schedule, ultimately capturing the raw, untamed energy of Fish’s live performances. The 9 song collection offers listeners “a taste of the neo-psychedelic fantasias that can occur when Fish stretches out in concert,” said Premier Guitar, who featured Fish on the cover of their just-released April 2025 issue. Throughout the album Fish explores new depths of vulnerability and self-expression, confronting love, loss, and personal growth–all while “stretching idiomatic boundaries” (Nashville Scene).
The Kansas City-raised, New Orleans-based musician is known for her expressive guitar work, high-energy, emotionally charged performances, and unique blend of the blues with rock, soul, pop and funk. She’s collaborated with luminaries like Jon Spencer and Luther Dickinson and earned invitations to tour with Eric Clapton, SLASH, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Eric Johnson on the Experience Hendrix Tour and more. Her previous album Death Wish Blues reached #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart and earned a GRAMMY nomination for “Best Contemporary Blues Album.”
This Spring, Samantha will play a string of shows with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, return to JazzFest and more.
