When I first relocated to East Tennessee I met a man, Eric Caldwell, who was the server for my table at Knoxville area restaurant. Over a period of weeks and months, I learned that he was a budding musician. He eventually shared some of his work with and I genuinely liked it.

Over the years he has evolved into an amazing artist who is writing, recording, and performing great music. His latest project is Eric Caldwell and The Cruise Control – a five song EP that is excellently written, performed, and recorded. Again, I genuinely love it. I’m just embarrassed that I’m just now learning of it. I’ll highlight a couple of tunes:

The first cut, “Medusa,” immediately grabbed my attention with its gritty, dirty rock grind meshed with artful Doors/Jim Morrison-like vocals. Love it!

“Pocket Full of Dimes” serves up a heap of fresh steaming hot southern rock in the spirit of Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, and the Marshall Tucker Band. One may think from listening to this song that the southern rock mantle has fallen the shoulders of Eric and the boys.

I encourage you to follow Eric Caldwell and The Cruise Control and, if you’re ever in the greater Knoxville, Tennessee, check their Facebook page to see where they’re going to be gigging during your visit. If you catch one of their shows, tell them that Boomerocity sent you.
